This is a 6-week, whole day, inter-semester clinical training period at the end of semester 6 (i.e. during the long vacation) during which students work independently but under supervision of faculty and/or experienced dieticians to obtain practical hands-on experience in patient assessment, diagnosis, counselling and dietary management. The vocational training will be undertaken in Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Ridge Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, Princess Marie Loius Hospital, and Tema General Hospital. It will be extended to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Efia Nkwanta Hospital, Ho Regional Hospital, Cape Coast Regional Hospital and Koforidua Regional Hospital as and when students’ numbers increases.
Students shall be evaluated at the end of the vocational training. The course is a pre-requisite for level 400 courses in Dietetics.
Students will complete a logbook and will be assessed at the end of the course using the logbook and an oral examination.
